Girls Weekend at Disney World

There are people out there who firmly believe that Disney World is just for kids. I say to them, Walt was a child at heart his whole life, and his Disney parks keep that alive....they are for all dreamers, all kids at heart.

So ladies,  get your girls together.  Couples, drop the kids and pets  off at the parents, Friends, get thee to Disney!!

I spent St. Patrick's weekend on a sisters/cousins get away and it was great!

Early birds get the.....no, not worms, that's grotesque. Get the groceries and drinks!! That's right, stock your room with snacks, light meals (yogurt, fruit, bagels), water, and some wine for the gang.

Experience your Resort

We explored Disney's Art of Animation. We had a Cars Suite for the weekend. So fun! The details totally took me back to Arizona's Route 66, especially Seligman AZ.

The rooms were a good size. We had plenty of space to socialize, sleep, prep, all the things 4 adults needed for a true relaxation weekend.
The attention to detail was, in true Disney style, fun to spot and appreciate.
A little time at the pool for the early arrivals as wait for the rest of our girls.

The Art of Animation is gorgeous property,  across a small lake from Pop Century, and both resorts have easy access to the skyliner.

We took the skyliner to the Riviera resort for a counter service dinner, which we enjoyed at Bar Riva, right next door.  Fun fact about Disney Resorts and counter services: You can take your food from a counter service location to enjoy at the bar, or take your grown up drink from the bar and eat it with your meal at the counter service. It's all Disney's property, so with few exceptions (like Victoria and Albert's and signature locations) they don't mind.

Always stop to appreciate the decor around Disney property.

Finally the gangs all here! After catching up over coffee and breakfast in our room, we were ready for some Disney Parks!

Disney's Animal Kingdom was a great place to start! Kilimanjaro Safari, Avatar Flight of Passage, Finding Nemo, Dinosaur and Expedition Everest....we laughed and chatted all day long (with  just a little sweltering!)   I love that we started out day with De-Vine...watching her bloom from a vine to interacting with some young ones was very captivating!

Dinner at Sanaa was a great way to wrap it up. Their bread service is a lot of food,  so we wisely shared a few appetizers and a single entree...and saved room for dessert!!!
We took some time to view the night time Savannah before heading back to our resort. No more complimentary night vision binoculars but we could still see some animals bunking down or munching hay.

Sunday was a visit to Hollywood Studios for St. Patrick's Day. We were a little disappointed to not see more green but that didn't stop us!
The skyliner is a fun mode of transportation and we enjoyed the view from above.

We took time to explore shops on our way to the Tower of Terror. No lightning lanes for us, we chatted and goofed around while waiting in the queue. Lots of mist machines in the queue here. They help set the spooky scene and cool you a bit while you wait, but forget any thoughts of having a good hair day unless frizz and curl is your style!

We visited a galaxy far, far away for our green drinks. While they were not all green, we each had 2 drinks while we took in the vibe of Satuli Canteen along with 2 other groups sharing our large booth. It was unexpected when we were seated  and told the scooch over that other people were also going to be joining our booth but it was kind of fun and we joined in conversation and booed the stormtrooper walking through.

The Beauty and the Beast performance is a good one, and it  gets you off your feet and in the shade. All wins! We all enjoyed watching the show.
